FIELD TRIP ON September 6, 2007

Download Permission Slip by Clicking Here

Released Date: August 31, 2007

Dear Parents and GAP Families,

Welcome to the wonderful world of Ice! As a school, in science, we have been studying and learning about the ice age.  We have and are continuing our discussions on the Ice Age time period, animals, plants and geographical features.  We have an amazing opportunity to visit the Ice Age Exhibit at GWIZ Hands on Museum on Thursday, September 6, 2007. I feel as the Science Instructor that this is a very important, tangible learning experience for our children. The children will be looking and recording information in their science journals as we walk and explore the exhibit.  This will also be our first GAP School Community Field trip.

The cost of the field trip will be $10.00 per student; this fee includes the admission price as well as transportation fees to and from the museum.  Please send in a bag lunch as we will be eating lunch at GWIZ.  If you have already ordered lunch from Subway for your child on Thursday, we will be able to pick up the sandwiches and salads early to bring them with us. I thank you ahead of time for the understanding on the short notice of the trip, when I found out the exhibit would be leaving on Friday the 7th I wanted to make sure we had the chance to see a woolly mammoth up close and personal.

Sincerely,

Robin Ahearn
Science Instructor

New School Year!

Released Date: August 23, 2007

Dear Families:

It has been a smooth and exciting beginning to a new school year! The energy from the students, families and staff has been so positive, I believe we will have a fabulous year.

There are several house keeping issues to work on:
1. There is a Parent/Student Handbook that has been issued to all students. Along with this was a signature page for parents and students to sign indicating they have read the handbook and understand the policies and procedures.

If you have already signed this form and sent it in, thank you, otherwise, please make sure to sign and return the form no later than next Tuesday, August 28, 2007. If you don't have either the Handbook or the signature page, please respond to this email with a request for whatever you are missing.

2. Fix N' Freeze provided information at our Meet Your Teacher Night regarding programming on Friday's. If you would like your child to participate in this program, you should return the menu with the permission slip as well as a minimum of one weekly payment ($20.00) no later than Tuesday, August 28, 2007 to begin programming next Friday, August 31, 2007. If you sign your child up, they will be escorted down to the facility by a staff member during Ms. Carla's class. Ms. Kester will be responsible for them during that time frame and then return them to our campus upon completion of the meal preparation.

3. Water bottles are coming in, however, many of them are not labeled with the student's name. Even if it is a disposable water bottle, please make sure your child's name is on it so that it doesn't get mixed up with another child's bottle.

4. Schoolnotes.com should be up and running on Monday, August 27, 2007. You should access the site by providing our zip code of 34238. The team names are the:

Blue Angels
Silver Angels
Golden Gators
Flying Squirrels
Black Ninjas

Each teacher will update their information on a weekly basis.

Please feel free to conact me at 941.924.6373 or by replying to this email if you have any questions, concerns or comments.

Have a great weekend!
