The GAP School announces the opening of its 2nd Year

The GAP School , a fast growing Sarasota alternative school for students who have varying learning problems, now offers the community a more diversified curriculum to help students reach their goals.

The GAP School offers a new concept for the learning disability community , which was developed by Amy F. Weinberger, with the goal of filling a gap for kids academically and cognitively. The GAP School offers the best of both worlds by offering the advantages of outcome based learning with the ability to provide a highly customizable intervention plan that meets the unique needs of each student.

There are four different tracks for students with learning disabilities: advanced, intermediate, vocational and fundamental. The classes are set in an 8:1 ratio with technology and intense human interaction at the forefront of improving learning. The achievement outcomes from last school year were an overall 2 year gain in reading, writing, or math.

According to Ms. Lori Stephens, the Gap School Director, "We are very pleased to begin our 2 nd year in Sarasota and look forward to being able to prepare students to get back to the schools of their choice the following year or in a couple of years."
