Eat dinner with your child on September 25th, national Family Day
Did you know that eating dinner frequently with your children reduces their risk of substance abuse?
Research by The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) at Columbia University consistently finds that the more often children eat dinner with their families; the less likely they are to smoke, drink or use illegal drugs. You can make a real difference in your children's life. Make plans to have dinner with your family on National Family Day observed on Monday, September 25. The conversations that take place with dinner will help you learn more about your children's lives and better understand the challenges they face.
CASA created Family Day - A Day to Eat Dinner with Your Children™ in 2001, as a national effort to promote family dinners as an effective way to reduce substance abuse among children and teens. Family Day is celebrated each year on the fourth Monday in September.
Parents who take time to engage in regular activities with their children are using the single most potent weapon to prevent substance abuse among youth! Celebrate Family Day by making an effort spend time together and encourage your friends and neighbors to do likewise. For more information, log on to www.FloridaFamilyDay.com.
